Polymer Product Presentation: Adhesive Power of our Solution Polymers
Our line of Cationic Acrylic Polymers offer a many benefits for coating. One of these wonderful benefits is their level of adhesion. Surface adhesion is a special focus of some of our cationic acrylic polymers. These 8 polymer options are split equally into two categories. These categories are solution polymers and emulsion polymers. As a special showcase of its abilities, we are going to take a look today at the solution polymers.
Solution Polymers
A solution polymer is a polymer that is soluble to a specific solvent. It is created by having a monomer dissolved from a non-reactive solvent. That specific solvent is what the final solution polymer is soluble to.
K-633
One of the many solution polymers that we are proud to present is the K-633. The K-633 is also applied for exceptional alkali resistance, as well as adhesion to non-porous substances, but is also used for improved solubility. It carries a positive charge that makes it possible for coatings and inks to have wonderful adhesion to various plastic films. Such films include Mylar, Polystyrene, and PVC. It has a low molecular weight and carries a clear appearance.
K-21-30
Similar to the K-633, the K-21-30 are also solution polymers meant for alkali resistance and adhesion to non-porous substances. They are cationic acrylic polymers that carry a low molecular weight count, a pH level of 5.0 – 6.0, 200-400 cps, and a slightly hazy solution look. Also like the K-633, the K-21-30 each carry impressive adhesion capabilities to plastic films. However, what separates the K-21-30 from the K-633 is that they are well-matched with basic dyes. Not only that, but they are wonderfully efficient solubilizers for oil soluble dyes. Other solution polymers include the Ottopol K-362 and the Ottopol KX-99.
K-362 & KX-99
The K-362 is used as a grinding vehicle for both organic and inorganic pigments, while the KX-99 polymer can cross-link with polyisocyanates and epoxy silanes. The KX-99 also carries wonderful water resistance.
But don’t just stop at the solution polymers for your industrial needs. As mentioned earlier, there are also the emulsion polymers to consider as well. For more information on our cationic acrylic polymers, or any other water based industrial polymers, be sure to contact Gellner Industrial here.
