Direct to Metal Paint
Direct-to-metal or DTM paints are a type of coating that can be applied directly to metal surfaces without the use of a primer beforehand. These types of paints and coatings often have an acrylic composition that allows them to adhere to the surface without further assistance and are often applied to substrates where surface preparation is not possible or needed.
Direct to Metal Formulas at Gellner Industrial
Gellner Industrial provides the starting formulations for direct-to-metal paint that is up to 840 hours salt-spray resistant. We have a specific product, Ottopol SF-49, that is an excellent start for a DTM coating.
Ottopol SF-49 is a dry film with excellent water resistance, even in prolonged exposure to water. It can be formulated into a corrosion and salt-spray resistant coating, and has semi gloss as well for an appealing finish.
