Gellner Industrial’s Hydroxyl Functional Acrylic Polymers
Hydroxyl Functional Acrylic Polymers when used in coatings they create unique resistance properties for chemical-resistant coatings and industrial coatings. Hydroxyl Functional Acrylic Polymers are a very important part in the formulation of chemical-resistant coatings and industrial coatings. Gellner Industrial manufactures three Hydroxyl Functional Acrylic Polymers which are used to aid our customer’s in their manufacturing of high quality coatings.
Two of Gellner Industrial’s Hydroxyl Functional Acrylic Polymers, Ottopol 522 and Ottopol 510-28, cross link with melamine resins. These two anionic polymers are cross linked with Melamine resins to create both high quality and high performing chemical coatings. Ottopol 522 is an anionic emulsion and Ottopol 510-28 is an anionic solution polymer with a hydroxyl group added onto the polymer chain.
The third, Hydroxyl Functional Acrylic Polymer, that we manufacture is Ottopol KX-99. This Hydroxyl Functional Acrylic Polymer is a Cationic Acrylic Solution that crosslinks at room temperature with Polyiscyanates and Epoxy Silanes.
Ottopol 522 is a hard acrylic emulsion with Hydroxyl functionality, cross links with Melamine resins and Polyisocyanates for excellent solvent resistance.
Properties:
- SOLIDS 44-46%
- pH 7.0-8.0
- VISCOSITY 200-500 cps
- Tg 105

Ottopol 510-28 is a flexible solution with a Hydroxyl Functional Acrylic. It crosslinks with Melamine resins for excellent salt fog resistance.
Properties:
- SOLIDS 27-29%
- Ph 8.0-9.0
- VISCOSITY 2000-4000 cps
- Tg 43

Ottopol KX-99 is a Hydroxyl Functional Cationic Acrylic Solution, crosslinks at ambient or elevated temperature for solvent resistant coating.
Properties:
- SOLIDS 29-31%
- Ph 5.0-6.0
- VISCOSITY 300-800 cps
- Tg 32

Our Hydroxyl Functional Acrylic Polymers produce industrial coatings that can be used in production facilities, restrooms, kitchens, machine ships, aircraft hangars, clean rooms, freezers, warehouses, auto repair shops and auto dealers. When our Hydroxyl Functional Acrylic Polymers are cross-linked with Melamine resins, they provide excellent protective qualities. A barrier is created for solvents, humidity, salt, acids, oils, impact, abrasion and wear.
When our Hydroxyl Functional Acrylic Polymers formulation is cured at low temperatures the result is high quality and high performing properties for chemical-resistant coatings. Those properties include good aging stability, enduring resistance, light reflectivity, hardness, better storage stability, corrosion resistance, and improved Alkali resistance to numerous variations of solvents. When Hydroxyl Functional Acrylic Polymers are formulated using Melamine resins or Isocyanates a two-part system is involved allowing it to cure at room temperature.
