We possess a rare history that is rooted in both scientific ingenuity, as well as family tradition, to bring a culture of advancement and caring to our products and our customers. Our doors officially opened in March 1980, but the history of our company dates back to 1996, when our founder, Otto Gellner, a renowned and well-known expert in the chemical field, gave a speech on chemical resins and their applications.
The owners of ZINSSER – an impressive leader in chemical formulas – were so impressed by Gellner that they offered him a job at the company. After that, Gellner established the ZINCHEM division of ZINSSER, establishing himself as a true leader in the manufacturing of water-based acrylic polymers while expanding the company’s business significantly. Throughout his years in the industry, Otto Gellner lead the way in innovations in his filed, while having the foresight to realize that water was the way forward; water was the future of the resin industry. In 1980, Otto Gellner officially opened the doors of his own company, Gellner Industrial, in Gillette, New Jersey. His career-long dream had been realized.
A Leader in Water-Based Acrylic Polymers
In 1987, Otto’s son Robert, a graduate of the University of Maryland, who had worked for the company off-and-on during college, officially joined the team. Robert began to develop new formulas in the lab while overseeing the scale-up of the business and their subsequent products. The Father-and-Son team soon built a state-of-the-art facility and polymer plant in March 2000 in Hometown, PA. Today, the plant produces water based acrylic polymers and resins that set the industry standard for worldwide companies that manufacture industrial coating and household paints. Our products are also used in products that have useful applications in the graphic arts industry.
