What’s New at Gellner Industrial!

Gellner Industrial has been hard at work, and we’re delighted to announce the launch of a new product, Ottopol KXO, as well as a new application for one of our recent products, Ottopol TKO. Here’s everything you need to know about these products!

Ottopol KXO: A New Self-Healing Primer

Ottopol KXO is Gellner’s latest product for inks and coatings that improves adhesion and overall resistance. When used as a primer, KXO exhibits a unique self-healing ability, especially when the coating experiences blistering or bubbling damage due to excessive moisture. Once the moisture has been removed, the coating returns to its original state, undamaged. KXO has other advantages as well:

• Easy Curing and Excellent Durability: Coatings and inks made with Ottopol KXO cure at room temperature. In just a few hours, the dry film will have excellent water and moisture resistance, and within a day, the cured primer will have chemical, solvent, and alkali resistance. Curing at higher temperatures will achieve these properties faster, but is not necessary. 

• Superior Adhesion: Like all of the products at Gellner Industrial, Ottopol KXO exhibits superior adhesion to a variety of substrates, especially plastic films like mylar, PVC, PET, and polystyrene. It has also been tested for excellent adhesion to foil and other metallic surfaces, and it’s excellent for use on interior walls and components under the sink due to its self-healing properties.

Ottopol TKO: From Stain-Blocking to Printing Inks

Ottopol TKO has been proven to be an excellent addition to paints and primers for stain blocking and moisture resistance. Recently, we discovered that TKO also makes an excellent binder for printing inks used on plastic films commonly found in packaging. Plastic films like PET and BOPP–the sort of packaging that you commonly find in grocery stores and on various labels–are important in the retail and marketing industries. These applications require not only durability and long-lasting aesthetics, but also superior adhesion and sharp, accurate printing to maintain a clear and eye-catching image on the packaging. 

Gellner Industrial’s TKO has been tested and proven to serve as a highly effective inkjet receptive coating for the durable plastic films used in printing, marketing, and packaging, like PET and BOPP. Plastic films coated with TKO before printing are much more receptive to dyes, and result in a much more vibrant and accurate printed image thanks to TKO’s superior adhesion.
