The biggest benefit of sealing painted concrete is improving its durability. Certain sealers will increase UV resistance, moisture resistance, and even damage due to road salts. They also improve overall wear resistance and help to prevent water and other contaminants from getting into the concrete itself. Concrete is a porous material, which not only makes it difficult for coatings to properly adhere to, but also makes it much more susceptible to damage from moisture. No matter what type of sealer is used, it ultimately creates a barrier to protect this porous interior structure from all different types of damage.

A good seal protects the concrete from contamination of all different types–including some chemical contaminants. Plus, it tends to result in a smoother, more even surface than painted concrete alone, which is far easier to clean and maintain.
